Steven Thompson at the Defence Of Britain Project has
produced an excellent file which can be downloaded and then viewed in Google Earth. It shows hundreds of Auxiliary
related sites around the UK as well as other defence locations.
As this will be confusing for some we have prepared
a video tutorial which will guide you through what you need to do or you can follow the six
step by step instructions below.
Note. If your computer is old it may struggle to display
Google Earth...
Step 1 - Download Google Earth here if you don't already have it.
Step 2 - Now you can download the Defence of Britain's Google Earth file
here.
For most users the file will now open directly in Google Earth.
Step 3 - In Google Earth on the left hand navigation window you should
see a box called "Places" the file will appear in here under "Temporary Places". Tick the box called Defence of
Britain Project and expand it by clicking on the + icon next to it.
Step 4 - You will then see all the sites listed within the file. The
Auxiliary related sites are listed under the "Ancillary Sites" folder. You can view as many sites as you like but
we suggest you just tick the Auxiliary related ones otherwise Google Earth may run very slowly.
Step 5 - When you go to close Google Earth it will prompt you to save
the file. We suggest you do this and then it will be there next time you wish to view it.
Step 6 - For those of you who have never used Google Earth before and
are unsure how to navigate around it, please see the instruction video here
