"Auxilier" Ale - Brewed By The Old Forge Brewery,
Coleshill
Auxilier was approx 5.3% and was a dark beer with an amber colour.
Sadly the beer is no longer being brewed due to a lack of on-going
sales.
A small percentage of each bottle or pint sold was donated to CART to help us go
on running.
How It Came About
Alan Watkins (left) at the Halfpenny Brewery,
Lechlade saw an appeal for funding made by CART and came running to the rescue. Alan and CART then
went about designing and putting together everything needed to make a great ale. It was decided we would
launch it in 2010 to commemorate the 70th
Anniversary of the formation of the Auxiliary Units.
History Of The Beer
We gave CART members and the general public a chance to name the Ale. See what
the Swindon Advertiser had to say about it here
Bob Millard seen below decided on the name "Auxilier". The recipe of the Ale is
a guarded secret but it was first brewed in the 1940s.
