I have just been informed that the programme that CART members helped to film on July 3rd called ‘Wartime Secrets with Harry Harris’ will be aired on the new Discovery History channel on November 14th 2010 at 10pm.

It will feature some of the re-enactors, Keith Blaxhall, Richard Ashley and some of the Museum of British Resistance and maybe a few more faces.

I have been told that the piece is only 10 minutes long approx!

We have very kindly been donated some amazingly detailed information on Grange Patrol in Scotland.

The new content includes a downloadable map reading training programme and a training log book which shows us that Grange Patrol trained with other Auxiliary patrols in the area, something that was not normally done due to the high level of secrecy!

It is really worth a read and allows you into the minds of these men who trained through the toughest of weather to be ready to stall a Nazi advance.

Read it all here.

Our thanks goes to Alison Smith http://www.genegenie-scotland.co.uk/ for the info.

Earlier this month CART started to set up a network of CIOs (County Information Officers) around the UK in an effort to gain more research and understanding about the Auxiliary Units.

This morning CART recruited it’s seventh CIO (Isle of Wight) and published it’s first CIO report by Steve Mason (CIO for Hampshire) on its members only page. When the reports turn into publishable research they will appear on the website.

A brand new TV channel called Discovery History is set to launch on November 7th 2010. (See trailer below)

One of the new series called ‘Wartime Secrets’ is presented by Harry Harris a London cabby and historian. The series delves into Britain during WW2 and one programme looks at the Auxiliary Units.

In July this year, Tom Sykes (CART Founder) worked with researchers to ensure they had a really detailed look at the Auxiliary Units. The show will feature the Coleshill Operational Base and interviews with at least one Auxilier.

Keep your eyes on this blog for a broadcast date.

The Auxiliary Units, SOE and spies during the cold war used these special message bolts.

A small message was inserted into the hollow centre of the bolt and then another spy of radio operator would come along to retrieve the message.

An original can be seen above.

We are now selling replicas in our shop here

Bill Ashby has kindly donated these images of his father Lieutenant W. Ashby digging a Operational base somewhere in Sussex.

As far as CART knows, these are the only known pictures of an OB being built.

We are looking to raise at least £1,800 so we can buy the bits we need for an Auxiliary Roadshow.

Next year we hope to  be able to attend war weekends, schools and other events, promoting the Auxiliary Units.

We are working on an “experience” which we hope all ages will love. This will give people a real insight into how the Auxiliary Units would have lived and trained during an invasion. It will take the form of an enclosed interactive talk but the details are under wraps for now. We will be collecting money at the events to keep our outreach program alive.

We are prepared to offer sponsorship on our website to a company or anyone who may be able to help us.

Personal donations are also welcome.
