CART IS ONE TODAY!

Today marks the 1st Birthday of the Coleshill Auxiliary Research Team (CART)

What a year its been!

In the 12 months CART and its members have built a fantastic on-line resource which is now THE online authority on the Auxiliary Units.

We have attracted national and local press, produced a DVD, organised a site trip to Parham, produced an Ale and helped loved ones answer questions about their Aux relatives.

July 4th - Talks and Update

I am pleased to say that writer Owen Sheers has now confirmed he will be attending the July 4th Remembrance day at Coleshill this year.

Owen's award winning book "Resistance" is currently in the early stages of being made into a feature film. Owen plans to discuss the forthcoming film on the July 4th event and may also be offering a book signing.

A Great Day Out At The British Resistance Museum

Today a large group of CART members travelled to The British Resistance Museum located at Paham Airfield in Suffolk.

It was an amazing day and the members of BROM made us feel very welcome and supplied a great lunch.

A few of us spent the first few hours on paperwork research while the others got chatting to the on site experts.

A must see is their mock underground OB.

Swindon At War - Your Help Is Needed

Morning All,

THIS ONLY REALLY APPLIES TO PEOPLE CLOSE TO SWINDON.

Swindon Library is planning an event at the Central Library on 5th & 6th June 2010 and CART have been asked to take part.

The opening hours of the event will be 9.30 - 4pm Saturday and 11-3pm on Sunday.

Trip to the Pensford OB - Coming Soon.

Philip Rowe is an Archaeological Landscape Investigator and he and the newly formed 'Churchill's Underground War' - or CUW group are planning a trip to the Pensford OB near Bath.

The trip will happen on a weekday with a date to follow soon.

War Talks Cancelled

I am sorry to report that as a group we have had to cancel our war talks in 2010 as knowone was showing an interest.

We feel it may be too soon to run these talks and they will now be available for group bookings only.

No tickets had been sold so no refunds need to be given.

Final War Talk - WW2 UK Defences

Historian Martin Kender will give a talk on about the developemnt of Anti Aircraft artillery and the emergence of integrated defences (aircraft and guns) in the UK during World War Two.

A trip to The Museum of the British Resistance

A C.A.R.T organised trip to The Museum of the British Resistance at Parham, Suffolk.

We will have the venue exclusively opened for us on this long day trip leaving from Highworth and will have time to explore all areas and look at some of the donated material from Auxiliers around the country. It will take approx 5 hours travel either way so if members would rather prefer to stay over in a B&B please let me know. Members will have the minibus transport price discount...

Second War Talk Planned

We are pleased to say our second war talk The History Of The Auxiliary Unit will be given by Bill King on May 12th at 7pm in Highworth.

Bill has conducted extensive research on the role of the British Resistance Organisation (Auxiliary Units) and has contributed to the book ‘With Britain in Mortal Danger’ published in December 2002.

Bill has appeared in the Television programmes ‘History Mysteries’ on BBC2 and the Channel 4 series ‘Dads Secret Army’. In addition to these activities...

Tickets Go On Sale For Our First War Talk

Tickets have now gone on sale for our first in a series of War Talks relating to the Auxiliary Units and Invasion.

The first talk on Operation Sealion is given by one of our key members Peter Antill. Peter is a research assistant working for Cranfield University at the Centre for Defence Acquisition in the Defence Academy of the United Kingdom, Shrivenham. 

Peter has practical experience in the service industry as well as the civil service.  A degree holder from both Staffordshire University ...
