You have the chance to take part in a unique event that allows you to learn more about the Auxiliary Units from the comfort of your own home.

CART is planning to hold a ‘virtual’ online conference in 2012 which will see some of the country’s leading researchers on the Auxiliary Units give talks over 12 hours.

The event will utilise simple downloadable software which will allow you to see the speaker, chat in a live chat window to them and others and view PowerPoint slides etc.

Before we can plan this event we need YOUR feedback. Please have your say about the event here

We have just added info on the Maiden Newton Auxiliary Unit Patrol in Dorset.

After scouring the Internet for Aux related research again this afternoon, I came across a video by thebritishww2man

He is a follower of our YouTube account and has made a model of an Aux Unit OB (Operational Base) from Lego.

You can see his video below. His attention to detail and knowledge of the Aux Units is very good.

This clip has been sent to me and it’s from an episode of Dad’s Army.

In it you can hear the guys talking about a “Home Guard Commando Unit” could they be talking about the Aux Units?

See it below.

Today CART CIO for Devon, Nina Hannaford submitted a report on the Golding Special Duties Section Zero Station bunker in Somerset.

Very little is known about the Special Duties Section and even less about this location.

If you can help please email cartdevon@gmail.com

Last month we spent some time making a short film for Abergavenny Museum.

This involved filming in Langstone with re-enactors and Sallie Mogford, Grandaughter of Les Bulley, an Auxilier with Jonah Patrol.

The final film can be seen below. Please do go along to the exhibition at the museum from September 17th. You can read more about the Welsh patrols here

Yesterday saw the launch of Bill Watson’s book ‘Gone To Ground’ at Duns Library in Scotland.

David Blair, our Scottish County Information Officer, gave a talk on the Auxiliary Units and the Duns Patrol.

The talks were attended by about 40 people and some of the relatives of the Duns Patrol were guests of honour.

We had hoped to broadcast the talk live on the Internet but there was a technical problem at the library which meant we were unable to make it happen.

David also left some flowers on the grave of Andrew Fortune, an Auxilier with the Duns Patrol.

Please see some of the images of the day below. The book can be bought here.

This is a trailer we have made to promote the forthcoming exhibition at the Abergavenny Museum in Wales.

We have produced a 9 minute documentary all about the Welsh patrols which will feature at the museum.
