Other information

The sons of Fred and Mabel, Len was the brother of Auxiliers Harold and Eddie Pike. Bovey Barton was the family home.

Both Pike and Bastone are listed as a Patrol Leaders on the data drawn up by Major Malcolm Hancock at stand down. He is not recorded with a rank on the nominal roll taken in 1942. In a enrolment letter, written by Group Commander Lieutenant Howes to Auxilier Richard Isles dated 28 Nov 1942, he notes Sergeant Bastone is the Patrol Leader of Stafford Common (Bovey) Patrol. As Leonard Pike and Bastone are both recorded as Patrol Leaders at stand down on the list compiled by Major Hancock there is some confusion over who was in command of Bovey Patrol and at what time. Both live very near to the Bovey OB but one may have moved on to create another Patrol.
